Three Human Basic Needs

Understanding the human's basic needs and how it affects their education and success is paramount to creating a better learning environment for the children to thrive in.

Autonomy

Autonomy is the need for a child to feel in control of their own actions and decisions. Allowing students to pick from a variety of appropriate choices makes the feel empowered (Main, 2023). Creating self-motivation in completing their chosen activity. If the idea of autonomy is not followed it can lead to failure of motivation and lack of engagement.

Competence

Competence is important in a child's education because it provides confidence in their ability to complete the task at hand. Ensuring the tasks and activities are achievable by students. If this strategy is ignored it can cause frustration and create the idea that they cannot succeed.

Relatedness

As an educator customizing lessons and activities to their current students is important in success within the classroom. Making sure that students are able to make connections and relate to what they are learning (Main, 2023). Along with being able to connect with one another creating special connections with peers. Not ensuring this strategy is met it can create students to feel isolated, lack of connection with learning.
